The day starts always early at ‘Le Mas Rivière’ owned by Hermine and Jean-Pierre Couturou-Borrel. This ecological farm located at the top of a hill (250m) overlooking the village of Molières-sur-Cèze gives a fantastic panoramic view over the Cèze valley and Mount Lozère.

The farm labeled “Nature et Progrès” hosts 60 goats, 30 sheep, 100 chickens, 10 Gascon pigs, some cats, 16ha of chestnut trees, an orchard and garden.  

Shepherding : one can help milking the goats "alpine and saanen, anglo nubiens and massif central" at about seven o’clock for about 1h30 "twice a day" and meanwhile checking the flock is in good health ; cleaning the barn ; feeding them : for feeding the goats, intensive fodder gardens are grown. Goats like variety in their diet. They need plenty of fresh, clean fodder each day.

Slow Food: Then visitors are invited to participate to the cheese making process, "cheese made with raw milk, traditionally of the Cevennes" : filtering of the milk, discover how the milk curdles, how to ladle the cheeses into their moulds, the various finishing rooms etc. 

Dates : every day from seven o’clock to seven o'clock with the siesta !
The goats milk period begins in February and finish in December.
The farm welcomes interns as well staying about 1 month in average.

Prices: stay at the gite for 4-6 persons, 85 euro for a weekend, or 230-330 euro for a week
